Education & Experience
Emily Sovell is the owner and founder of Sovell Law Office, PC. Emily is originally from Onida, and now her husband and children call Sully County home, too. After more than twenty years in private practice, her current focus is on ag business, estate planning, business entity creation and real estate. Prior to entering private practice, Emily received her Bachelor of Science from South Dakota State University and her Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota. Hard work in her law school days resulted in recognition as a Sterling Scholar, Dean’s Certificate recipient, published writer and honors for scholastic achievement. Immediately following law school, she was selected as a law clerk for the South Dakota Supreme Court. After her clerkship, she entered private practice in Onida in 2002, and in 2008, she opened a satellite office in Highmore, South Dakota. In addition to her private practice, Emily is the elected State’s Attorney in Sully County and provides part-time services to her county government.
Education & Experience
Shantay recieved her Bachelor of Science degree from South Dakota State University in 2021, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in 2024. During her time in Law School, Shantay served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, was a member of Delta Theta Phi and the Marjorie Breeden Society (Women in Philanthropy). Shantay was also active in the WORKS clinic in which she assisted eligible self-represented litigants to achieve access to courts and efficiently conclude divorce and custody proceedings. Shantay has been appointed State's Attorney in Hyde County and serves as Deputy State's Attorney in Sully County. Shantay's primary focus in private practice is family law and estate planning.
Education & Experience
Desiray recieved her Associates degree in business from Northern State University prior to joining the Sovell Law Office team in October of 2018. Prior to joining Sovell Law Office, Desiray was employed with the Central South Dakota Child Assessment Center for over 9 years. In addition, Desiray is a 2012 South Dakota Partners in Policymaking Graduate, a leadership training designed to empower individuals with disabilities along with their families and supporters, to actively advocate for policy changes that directly impact their lives.
Education & Experience
Nora has lived in Hyde County for over 30 years. She and her husband raised four children in Highmore, and now enjoy watching their grandchildren excel in the community. Nora now has over twenty years of experience as a legal administrative assistant, and has been with Sovell Law Office since January 2009. She has also assisted as Hyde County State’s Attorney administrative duties for over twenty years.
